Harvest 2016 is winding down! In July, we processed Blanc du Bois, Tempranillo, and Black Spanish/Lenoir. In early August, it was Aglianico, Montepulciano and Shiraz. In late August, it was the Texas High Plains Viognier. Viognier is a Rhone variety that is well adapted to the Texas climate. Great melon, stone fruit and mineral qualities.
Over the past two weeks in September, we processed Roussanne, a Rhone grape that grows well in the Texas High Plains, plus Petit Verdot and Mourvedre, a Bordeaux grape and a Rhone Grape. Petit Verdot doesn't always ripen fully in Bordeaux's cool climate but it is outstanding in Texas. Mourvedre is also a slow ripening variety yhat has adapted well to the Texas climate.
